One day I realized that there wasn’t just one thing we did differently than most families but, our whole life had turned off the paved road.
There are those common paths that are heavily traveled, typical and familiar. Most people travel those paved roads because they are well marked, easily traversed and even encouraged. If you get lost, you can just follow the crowd to a common destination.
However, there are some folks out there that are intrigued by the back roads of life; those that are obviously less traveled. Some folks hear a still small voice calling to their spirit to walk this life out a bit differently. These are the people I want to encourage with stories from my own life, tips I have learned and some tricks to make traveling these roads a little easier.
I endeavor to keep our house running and our crew on track and living with purpose. I’m introverted in ways that surprise even me. I am happiest curled up in the oversized chair in the corner of my bedroom with a good book (nonfiction) and a warm cup of coffee; knowing that my husband is nearby and my babies are tucked safely in their own beds. Bliss!
This is the love of my life.
He keeps me from becoming a hermit. He is everything I am not: ultra social, completely approachable and always without anything resembling a plan. He is the ultimate “manly man.” He does all things outdoorsy and John Wayne-ish. His theory on children is this: the more you have, the the more folks you will have around to care for you in your old age.
These are 4 of our 5 kidos.
Adoption is currently pending with our 5th and we are not allowed to publish photos of him. Fear not! We will share ASAP!
These folks keep me hopping on a daily basis. Allowing them to explore and learn while sharpening and truing them into effective arrows is a full time job. I pray I do it in a manner that pleases my Lord.
We live in East Tennessee on land that has been in my family for 3 generations and in the house that once belonged to my great grandparents. My aunt and uncle live next door and my parents just down the gravel drive.
one two dogs, a cat, chickens and a horse. Various other critters pass through from time to time as life ebbs and flows. There were those three crazy goats last year and the even crazier pony just a few months back…
Snuggle up with your laptop or reader and take a peek into our life. Let’s talk about homeschooling, adoption, or stand in awe and marvel at Jesus. Take a walk with us down a few dirt roads where flowers still bloom and the pace is a bit slower.
Psalm 16:11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
Jeremiah 10:23 I know, O Lord, that a man’s way is not in himself, Nor is it in a man who walks to direct his steps.
Matthew 7:14 Because narrow is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leads unto life, and few there be that find it.
